Guisborough Forest

OS Grid Reference: NZ586152

Perched on the edge of the Tees Valley and planted mostly in the 1950s, Guisborough Forest has matured to provide outstanding scenery with lots of rock outcrops and stunning views.

There are two main trails: the Black Cycle Route (severe grade) for advanced riders and the Blue Cycle Route (moderate grade) for beginners and novices. Both require some level of fitness, but they’re both intensely rewarding.

How to get there
Take the A171 west from Guisborough to the A173. Follow the A173 for 300 metres until you reach the entrance to Guisborough Forest and Walkway Visitor Centre. The visitor centre provides the ideal starting point for a visit to Guisborough Forest. Cycle into the forest via the Guisborough Branch Walkway, a disused railway line. The centre has displays about the history and geology of the area and the forest, and sells local map guides.
